Jefrey Andrade is a Brazilian classical guitarist whose artistic work combines performance, research, and a deep engagement with the classical guitar repertoire. Holding a Doctorate in Musical Performance from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), as well as a Master's and Bachelor's degree from the Federal University of São João del-Rei (UFSJ), he develops an interpretative approach that connects musical performance with the cultural contexts surrounding composers and their works.
A prizewinner in several national guitar competitions, Andrade won the Frederico Grassano Guitar Competition, received second prize at the Fabio Lima Guitar Competition, and third prize at the National Guitar Competition of Teresina. He has performed throughout Brazil, including concerts in Belo Horizonte, Rio de Janeiro, Vitória, Campo Grande, and Curitiba, appearing at important guitar events such as the Espírito Santo International Guitar Festival (FIVES), Campo Grande International Guitar Festival, and the EMBAP Academic Guitar Symposium.
His debut album, Jefrey Andrade plays Sergio de Vasconcellos-Correa: Complete Guitar Works, presents the first complete recording of Sérgio de Vasconcellos-Corrêa’s works for guitar, reflecting his research on culturally informed performance and his commitment to expanding the recognition of Brazilian guitar repertoire.
As a researcher, Andrade has presented his work at academic conferences in Brazil and internationally, including events in Mexico and Spain. He is a founding member of AssoVio Vertentes (Guitar Association of Vertentes), an organization dedicated to promoting guitar culture. He currently serves as guitar professor at the Pe. José Maria Xavier State Conservatory of Music in São João del-Rei, Minas Gerais, Brazil.
